1Aardvark is seeking Full Stack Software Engineers at the Junior, Mid, and Senior levels to support several new, space-centric programs across the DoW and IC. We are looking for engineers who thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, enjoy solving hard problems, and want to help modernize how the warfighter receives and exploits space-based capabilities. This position is hybrid with flexibility between in-office and remote work. Occasional travel and on-site integration events will be required.

What You’ll Do
As a Full Stack Software Engineer at 1Aardvark, you will:
- Build modern full-stack applications in support of space mission systems
- Integrate and modernize legacy space-related ground and flight software
- Develop distributed applications leveraging microservices, cloud-native architectures, and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT)/consensus frameworks
- Support on-orbit and ground system integration & test, including emulation, simulation, and interface validation
- Implement DevSecOps pipelines, automated testing, and secure software practices
- Develop modern UI/UX interfaces for mission operators and analysts
- Work closely with space system engineers, mission integrators, and operations teams
- Contribute to a mission-focused engineering culture where your ideas truly shape the product
Basic Qualifications (All Levels)
- Ability to obtain at least a Secret security clearance
- U.S. Citizen
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related STEM discipline
- Substitutions: 4 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree
- Experience developing in C++, C#, Rust, Python, or Go
- Experience with SQL/NoSQL database design and integration
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GovCloud variants)
- Experience with GitHub, Jira, and Confluence
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Leveling Guidance
Junior Engineer (0–3 years)
- Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent experience
- Foundation in object-oriented or systems programming (C++, Rust, C#, etc.)
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker), REST APIs, or microservices
- Exposure to embedded development or cloud development is a plus
- Strong desire to learn space-domain systems, DLT, DevSecOps, and distributed architectures
Mid-Level Engineer (3–8 years)
- Bachelor’s + 3+ years, Master’s + 2+, or PhD + 0 years
- Proven experience with full-stack or distributed system development
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native services, CI/CD pipelines, or container orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Experience integrating with legacy or mission-critical software systems
- Experience with embedded Linux or edge processing (e.g., Raspberry Pi, Jetson, Zynq)
Senior Engineer (8+ years)
- Bachelor’s + 8+ years, Master’s + 6+, PhD +3+ years
- Demonstrated technical leadership across software modernization or distributed systems
- Experience architecting microservices, APIs, message buses, and high-availability systems
- Familiarity with DLT/consensus algorithms (Raft, custom DLT implementations)
- Expertise integrating and testing software for space-based or ground mission systems
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and guide design decisions
- Experience with DoD/IC programs, ATO processes, or DevSecOps on classified systems
Preferred Qualifications (All Levels)
- Existing security clearance (TS/SCI preferred)
- Experience supporting SDA, USSF, MDA, AFRL, or NRO programs
- Experience building software for spacecraft, OPS software, or flight/ground segment integration
- Experience with high-performance computing, distributed processing, or real-time systems
- Experience with performance tuning and resource-constrained environments
- Experience with DevSecOps, IaC, and automated test frameworks in DoD environments
- Familiarity with DLT, blockchain, or consensus protocols
- Experience with modern UI/UX frameworks (React, Vue, Svelte, Blazor, etc.)
